The 2nd Annual SpaldingStrong Dinner and Auction is scheduled!!

Event Date: April 5th 5:30pm
The Cause:
On May 31, 2020, a member of our MVP Elite family, Ian Spalding, lost his life in a tragic accident. Ian Spalding was only 17 years old and had just finished his junior year of high school during covid. Our MVP program was practicing in preparation for the Pylon National Championship come July, and Ian had just practiced the day before his passing - May 30th.
Heading into that tournament, our program was considered the “small program from Southern Oregon” and faced some of the best players in the country including: Terrance Ferguson - now with the Ducks, JJ McCarthy - now with Michigan and Emeka Egbuka - now with Ohio State. Our players came together and played in honor of Ian. We took the field to start the tournament without a QB and instead had Ian’s MVP jersey in that place. Our kids fought hard as a team which landed us in the championship against the favorite. On a 3rd & short, the best WR in the nation dropped a pass exactly where Ian would have been covering him and MVP became the Pylon National Champions.
Ian was one of the most amazing kids. He befriended everyone in the program, was a straight A student, a 2-sport star (he was outstanding in baseball), and simply the kind of young man everyone should know.
This scholarship will be going to a graduating senior from the MVP program to help pay for college. Ian’s parents, Mike & Carly, will be instrumental in picking the winner that best follows in the tremendous footsteps left behind by Ian.

Last years event raised $10,000 in scholarship money for one of our MVP athletes
Winter/Spring Training
MVP is comprised of dedicated coaches and parents that provide opportunities for passionate young athletes to develop their character, confidence and athletic abilities through:

1) Training: Athletes are presented opportunities to engage in strength and speed/agility training, as well as a myriad of other activities geared to develop positional tactics and overall football IQ.

2) Competition: Athletes participate in a winter/spring passing league that spans the western US. These competitions allow the opportunity to test developing skills, see the results of training work and also gain exposure to college coaches and programs that can help the athletes in the future.

3) Community Engagement: Athletes volunteer throughout the community to raise funds for scholarships, program tuition, also to teach the sport they love to younger aspiring players in camps and workshops.

4) Academic/Behavioral Discipline: Expectations for athletes’ academic performance, educational goals and social media habits are clearly set to help them succeed beyond football and in the workforce.
